Accommodation Information

Information for people intending to book accommodation is provided below by location. Information on each hotel/B&B is in the Google Sheet database but you will need to ask me for access if you don't have it already. In the "Accommodation" sheet you will see the status of my bookings. Green rows are where I have booked. Blue rows are where it is not finalised. Gold rows are where I have stayed before. I will be using the same accommodation as my last trip in two locations, Alberobello and Matera.

In some cases I have indicated below that my recommendation is to use the same accommodation, making your own booking. In other cases I have chosen a single bedroom B&B and you will have to investigate and choose for yourself. The database has some suggestions of alternate accommodation in each town but you are welcome to make your own choices. Making is somewhere relatively close to where I have chosen will simplify arrival and departure logistics.

Where possible I am using booking.com which means that there is a single place I have to go to if I need to make changes. I have only booked places where there is a 100% cancellation refund guarantee.

I have noted below towns where car parking will need some planning.

Bologna 🅿

There is a lot to choose from. I would advise somewhere inside the SS64/SS9 inner ring road, preferably on the north side (closer to the airport and railway station). I am at 19 Via Marsala.

Galeata

There are really only two to choose from. I am booked at Corte Isabella which has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is quite cheap so I advise that you book there! Does not use booking.com and if you have to pay a deposit then only bank transfer and PayPal are possible. Ask me for details if you need them.

Sansepolcro

I have booked a two bedroom place for Kathleen and myself at 122 Via Niccolo' Aggiunti. There are several others to choose from but don't leave it too long as the Palio Balestra weekend will sell out!

Ponte Valleceppi

B&B Percorso Verde has multiple rooms and the best location. They seem used to bicycles. Book there!

Todi 🅿

Be aware that in the hill towns elevation may be as much an issue as distance. Google Maps 3D view can be useful. My accommodation at 11 Via SS. Filippo e Giacomo has a car parking spot which might be useful.

Narni 🅿

I have booked a two bedroom place for Kathleen and myself at 23 Via Vittorio Emanuele for two nights.

L'Aquila 🅿

There are multiple rooms at B&B Bone Novelle so if you like it then go ahead! Built off an internal courtyard so looks relatively safe for bikes etc. Interesting decor.

Sulmona 🅿

Legacy Hotel is quite cheap, has multiple rooms.

Colli al Volturno

I have booked a two bedroom place for Kathleen and myself at 6 Via Trento. There are not many choices, so don't delay too long.

Benevento 🅿

I am staying at Vico I San Nicola 10 in a single bedroom apartment. Kathleen is not far away at B&B Dimora del Duomo.

Accadia

Casa Salvatore is owned by a local organic producer of olive oil and goats cheeses. Quite cheap and it looks quite good. Stay there!

Lavello

Forentum Suite is the best place... I have booked a two bedroom suite for Kathleen and myself.

Matera 🅿

Le Dodici Lune is where I stayed last time and I see no reason to change. Multiple rooms, each one burrowed back into the rock face. This hotel is relatively easy to find and to get to from the road. Some are a nightmare! I recommend that you stay here.

Alberobello 🅿

I have booked a two bedroom apartment for Kathleen and I at Miratrulli Apartment. They also have a single bedroom place.  There are many other places nearby.

Ostuni 🅿

I am staying at Buongiorno Puglia which is the extreme NW of the old city. Ostuni is slightly less confusing to navigate than Matera but even so many streets are really staircases. Kathleen has booked not far away.

Lecce 🅿

I am staying at Sui Tetti which has a range of room styles and prices. It is very close to Porta Napoli (the old city gate) and is easy to get to and only 2km to the railway station and 5km from the Europcar offices. It has a lift! I recommend that you stay there.
